Priargunsky Historical and Art Museum
About museum
The museum was established in 1983 at the initiative of N. V. Popov and contains more than 5,000 exhibits. Its displays include items of paleontology, geology, wildlife, and the everyday life of the population of Zabaykalsky Krai, as well as an exhibition dedicated to the Khirkhirin settlement and the 'Cossack Izba'. A significant part is devoted to the Great Patriotic War and the Heroes of the Soviet Union of the Priargunsky District. In addition, the museum features an exhibition dedicated to the period of the Virgin Lands campaign, as well as the art gallery of the village of Novotsurukhaytuy, which houses more than 100 works by local, Chita and Moscow artists such as V. A. Platnov, V. A. Serov, N. P. Tolkunov and E. V. Vuchetich.
