About museum
On June 14, 1974, the first museum was opened in the building of the former kolkhoz office in the village of Pozhara, Babaevsky District. Veteran educator Alexander Mikhailovich Konstantinov was appointed museum director and devoted 17 years to it. With the help of local craftsmen and villagers he created the first exhibitions. For active educational work and the development of museum activities, on May 18, 1984, the museum was awarded the title of "People's". In 1997, by decision of the administration of Babaevsky District, the museum was named after Vasily Sergeyevich Basnikov. Currently, at the Pozharsky Museum, the Hall of Military Glory presents the feats of firefighters, while the Hall of Labor Glory showcases the labor achievements of local residents and the activities of the kolkhoz named after the 21st Congress of the CPSU. In the "Antique Objects" room visitors can acquaint themselves with the everyday life of our ancestors, and in the Russian izba learn about the peasants' way of life.
