In 1993 the museum was opened, with N. P. Lyagina appointed as its director. It was based on the Poyarkovo school museum, created by A. N. Astafyev in 1968. The exhibition hall area is 170.3 sq. m., and the museum's collections number more than 16,000 items. Visitors can see five halls: "Archaeology. Development of the Amur Region", "Mikhaylovsky District in 1917–1941", "Mikhaylovtsy during World War II. Mikhaylovtsy — participants in 'hot spots'", "The Wildlife of Amur Oblast" and Exhibition Hall No. 5. In addition, photo contests, celebrations, museum lessons on various topics, lectures and excursions are held here, including walking and bus tours around the village of Poyarkovo. New formats are also offered: weddings and birthday celebrations at the museum, and research museum lessons that include chemistry experiments.
