Omsk State Literary Museum named after F. M. Dostoevsky
About museum
The museum is located in the historic house of the commandants of the Omsk fortress, built in 1799. Alexey Fedorovich de Grave, the last commandant who showed special patronage to Dostoevsky, lived here. The museum's exhibition is divided into two sections: "F. M. Dostoevsky and Siberia" and "Writers from Omsk." The first section presents the history of Dostoevsky's life and work, including the period of his penal servitude. Authentic exhibits can be seen here: manuscripts, books, photographs, documents, the writer's personal belongings, and more. The second section traces the development of the literary process in the Omsk region from the 17th century to the 1990s. It includes personal archives of well-known writers such as P. P. Ershov, F. M. Dostoevsky, G. A. Vyatkin, G. D. Grebenshchikov, Vsevolod Ivanov, L. N. Martynov, P. N. Vasilyev, S. P. Zalygin, R. I. Rozhdestvensky, T. M. Belozerov, and others. The museum's holdings comprise 20,500 storage units and continue to be supplemented by collections of contemporary Omsk writers.
