Nizhne-Kazanishchensky Local History Museum

About museum

The Museum of Nizhny Kazanishch in the Buynaksk District of Dagestan presents to visitors the history, culture and ethnography of the ancient settlement. Famous people were born here: Sheikh Jamalutdin Kazikumukhsky, Suguri Sogratlinsky, Seyfudin Bashlarov and others. The museum's exhibition consists of a wide range of ethnographic items: household goods, tools, and ceramic products. Here you can see authentic costume ensembles of the Kumyk people, including rawhide footwear called "charyki." Particularly interesting are the model of a cart, vessels for storing grain and corn, and the "koryuk" oven. You can also learn about Hero of the Soviet Union Yusup Akaev, who was born in the village of Nizhny Jengutai, and see unique exhibits related to the Soviet Navy ground-attack pilot from the Great Patriotic War (World War II).
