Museum of Military Glory
About museum
On February 14, 2014, a museum dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan was opened in the Kirov Region. Subsequently the museum expanded its exhibition and received the name Museum of Military Glory.
In 2025, for the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, the Museum of Military Glory opened an updated exhibition "Weapons of Victory". The exhibition presents the history of the creation of truly revolutionary models of small arms in the pre-war period and during the war, and also tells about the contribution of the Kirov Region to the development and production of weapons for the Soviet Army.
Visitors learn about the life and work of famous weapons designers such as V.A. Degtyaryov, G.S. Shpagin, A.I. Sudaev, F.V. Tokarev, S.I. Mosin, M.T. Kalashnikov. From the collection of the Kirov Regional Museum of Local History are presented legendary weapon examples: the Mosin rifle, the Degtyaryov light machine gun, the Tokarev semi-automatic rifle, the Shpagin submachine gun (PPSh), the TT pistol (Tula–Tokarev) and others.
The exhibition also reflects the military feats of our fellow countrymen: Heroes of the Soviet Union, full holders of the Order of Glory, Marshals of the Soviet Union, rank-and-file soldiers and officers.
The exhibition also covers the modern history of Russia's military glory: participation in hostilities on the territory of Afghanistan, the counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus. The exhibition is completed by a complex dedicated to the participation of Russian servicemen in the special military operation.
