I. V. Panfilov Museum Complex of the Petrovsky District
About museum
The I. V. Panfilov Museum Complex is located in a two-story building constructed in 1880. It formerly housed the city school where Vanya Panfilov studied from 1901 to 1905. During the Great Patriotic War the building was converted into an evacuation hospital, and after the war it housed a secondary school. On the first floor there are exhibitions dedicated to the Great Patriotic War (1941–1945), displaying unique material exhibits and wartime photographs. The second floor contains halls devoted to the history of the town of Petrovsk and the Saratov region from its founding in 1698 to the present day. The Hall of Noble Culture is fully furnished with household items, furniture, and paintings from noble estates and merchant homes of the Petrovsky uyezd. This place allows visitors to feel the atmosphere of wartime, stand in a soldier's trench, and see Vanya Panfilov with their own eyes.
