Museum and Exhibition Center of the Arzamas District
About museum
On July 11, 2009, the Museum and Exhibition Complex of the Arzamas District was opened in the settlement of Vyezdnoye, providing an opportunity to learn about the history of this area. It is housed in an old 19th-century building that belonged to the Saltykov counts. Materials collected by search groups, educational institutions, rural administrations and local residents were used to form the collections. Currently the Museum has 3,224 items in the main collection and 612 items in the scientific and auxiliary fund. The museum offers tour programs, including guided tours and hands-on workshops, for example on making bast dolls and souvenir valenki (traditional felt boots). You can also take part in various museum programs with folk games and a samovar tea party, or go on an excursion around the Arzamas District. Handicraft items by local artisans are available for purchase at the Museum.
