Municipal Local History Museum of Volchansk

The Municipal Local History Museum was founded in 2000. It is located in the smallest city in Russia with tram service, the city of Volchansk. Currently the museum is the custodian of over 8,000 exhibits and a dozen different collections. Valuable items held in the museum include paleontological specimens, a collection of cast-iron castings, documents and photographs from the late 19th century, as well as items from the Great Patriotic War period. The museum has two reconstructed interiors: from the early and mid-20th century. Each year the museum staff give more than 70 lectures and talks, about 80 guided tours, at least 60 exhibitions and approximately 20 public events. Activities are carried out with all age groups.
