About museum
The Apatit Museum and Exhibition Center is the corporate museum of the FosAgro group of companies, located in the center of Kirovsk in a historic former fire station. It opened on March 20, 1932 in a small room of the Khibinogorsk Mining and Chemical Technical School and offers visitors a geological collection comprising minerals collected by geologists from the apatite mine, as well as minerals mined on the Kola Peninsula and in other regions of Russia. In 2013 the museum moved to a new building that includes eight geological exhibition halls, an exhibition center, a display titled 'Everyday Life and Customs of the Russian Empire' and a multimedia exhibition across seven floors of the clock tower called 'A Journey from the Earth's Interior to the Atmosphere'. Visitors may enter the museum free of charge and join guided tours in Russian or English, and audio guides are available.
