Museum and Creative Center of the People's Artist of Russia V. N. Korbakov (Korbakov House)
About museum
The permanent exhibition of V. N. Korbakov's paintings and graphic works in the Korbakov House includes not only works donated by the artist to the city of Vologda, but also works from various years held in the collections of the Vologda Regional Art Gallery.
The paintings displayed in the center's exhibition halls reflect the most characteristic directions and features of Korbakov's talent. These include landscapes, portraits, still lifes, and narrative-thematic paintings. Among the artist's landscape works, a large section comprises painted and graphic works created by him during plein-air sessions in the old Russian towns of the Vologda region.
Alongside landscape works, portraits occupy a significant place in the exhibition. Korbakov's portrait series are portraits of his contemporaries, people of different ages and professions, but equally interesting to the artist. The exhibition features portraits of veterans of the Great Patriotic War, female portraits, and portraits of children and young people. Of exceptional value are the portraits painted from life and the historical-documentary portraits of Vologda residents.
Along with V. Korbakov's paintings and graphic works, a unique collection of portraits of the artist titled "My Friends Draw Me" is preserved and exhibited; it was created by domestic and foreign artists over the last half-century. Among the authors of the works are recognized classics of contemporary art: V. Popkov, T. Salakhov, T. Yablonskaya, I. Glazunov.
