Buzeon Paper Museum, Polotnyany Zavod settlement
About museum
On August 24, 2018, the first interactive paper museum, 'Buzeon', was opened in the settlement of Polotnyany Zavod in the Kaluga Region. In an old 18th-century building covering 1,250 sq. m, a paper museum exhibition was arranged on two floors. It presents the history of papermaking from ancient times to the present day, the evolution of the papermaking process, and the role of paper in culture. The museum has a handmade paper casting hall where mechanisms from different eras are displayed, as well as an interactive wall that allows visitors to take a virtual tour of the papermaking production. Workshops are also held on creating sheets of paper, notebooks, decorative items, and other crafts. At 'Buzeon' you can immerse yourself in the Soviet era and learn about the history of Soviet papermaking from the 1920s to the 1980s.
