Museum and Tourist Complex 'Suzun-Zavod. Mint'
About museum
The museum and tourist complex is located 180 km from Novosibirsk in the historic settlement of Suzun. Here, in 1764, the Lower-Suzun copper-smelting plant and a mint were built. From 1766 to 1782 a 'special' Siberian coin was struck. The complex comprises four exhibitions, each housed in a separate building. For example, the 'House and Office of the Manager' recreates 19th-century interiors. The 'Copper-smelting Plant' exhibition features a reconstruction of the smelting furnace 'shpleizofen', a large-scale model of Suzun, and a working model of one of the factory machines. The 'Mint' presents the coin production process, and the Museum of Siberian Folk Icon houses full-scale operating minting machines. This museum and tourist complex is an excellent place to visit for anyone interested in the history and culture of the region.
