About museum
On December 12, 2012 the museum was founded, and on September 20, 2013 it was opened to the public in honor of the 85th anniversary of the establishment of Ilovlinsky District. It serves as a center for the preservation of cultural heritage, patriotic and spiritual‑moral education, and the enlightenment of the district's residents. In a short time exhibits were collected that characterize the nature of the Don region and the history of the district. The museum has 6 halls, including a natural‑paleontological hall, a historical hall, a Battle of Stalingrad hall, a post‑war period hall, an exhibition hall, and the hall of the Cossack holding company 'Krasnodonskaya'. The museum's collections comprise about 1,000 items in the main fund and 300 items in the scientific and auxiliary fund. In addition, the museum provides guided tours on historical and local‑history routes in Ilovlinsky District, including along the small bend of the Don.
