Museum-reserve — ethnographic complex 'Dagestani Aul'
About museum
The ethnographic complex 'Dagestani Aul' is a museum, cultural and educational center whose purpose is the preservation and study of the historical and cultural heritage of Dagestan for residents and visitors of the republic. The complex was opened in 2009 and includes four exhibition halls. The large hall displays traditional clothing of the peoples of Dagestan, jewelry, and household items. The small hall presents the interior of a mountain dwelling, and the 'Crafts Workshop' showcases traditional crafts of the peoples of Dagestan. The exhibition hall for temporary displays features contemporary designer clothing with the region's ethnic motifs and works of contemporary art. The clothing collection includes about 30 national Dagestani costumes, mostly women's. Color, decoration, and color scheme indicated the age, social status, and wealth of the owner. In addition to clothing, the hall displays silver jewelry made by master jewelers.
