D.I. Mendeleev and A.A. Blok Museum-Reserve. Boblovo Estate
About museum
In 1865 the Boblovo estate was acquired by Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleev. It is located near Klin, 11 km from the village of Tarakanovo and 90 km from Moscow. The estate stood on the top of Boblova Hill, offering a panoramic view of the surroundings. According to Mendeleev's design, the manor house with a laboratory was built, a landscape park with unusual plants was laid out, and a meteorological station and an experimental agricultural field were established where experiments with mineral fertilizers were conducted. Mendeleev also tested a wind engine here and in 1887 made a balloon flight. Today the manor house houses the D.I. Mendeleev Museum. Visitors can learn about the life and work of the great scientist, appreciate the scale of his genius, learn about his projects and travels, and see the interactive "Mendeleev Table" wall. The museum's collections preserve the scientist's personal belongings and documents and collections from the second half of the 19th century.
