Air Defense Forces Museum
About museum
Located 15 km from the Moscow Ring Road, in a forested area near a picturesque lake, is a unique exhibition and the only museum in Europe dedicated to the history of the Air Defense Forces. The collection contains more than 16,000 exhibits, including 400 real examples of combat equipment and weaponry. Visitors can learn about the Air Defense Forces' contribution to the USSR's victory in World War II, as well as about the participation of air-defense servicemen in local conflicts in various regions of the world. Guests can feel the legendary biographies of many individuals and also see the newest exhibition explaining what is being done to protect the peaceful labor of Russia's citizens from possible air-and-space attacks. Visitors will also learn much of interest about the activities of defense enterprises, such as OAO "NPO Almaz", MKB "Fakel", MNII "Agat", and the Phazotron–NIIR corporation. Visitors can take photos next to samples of combat equipment or, for a time, assume the role of a member of the launch crew of an anti-aircraft missile system's launcher.
