Dmitry Semyonovich Laletin

Dmitry Semyonovich Laletin was the founder of the Shirinsky District Local History Museum. He was born in the village of Kogunek into a peasant family. In 1937 he enrolled in the Abakan Agricultural Technical School, and in 1940 he graduated as a veterinarian.
In 1940 Laletin was drafted into the army and served in the Far East. During World War II he was wounded twice. He suffered a serious wound near Staraya Russa in 1944. After demobilization, Laletin returned to his native village and began working as a veterinary technician. Later he graduated from the Abakan Teachers' Institute and worked at the Kogunek school.
In 1954 the Laletin family moved to the village of Shira, where they took jobs as teachers at the local boarding school. In 1974 Dmitry Semyonovich was invited to work as a photo correspondent for the newspaper "Znamya Kommunizma." It was then that he came up with the idea of creating a museum based in the village of Shira. In November 1977 he presented the collections he had gathered for the first time at the local rural club named after S. M. Kirov. Dmitry Semyonovich Laletin passed away on April 19, 1989.
