Museum-estate of academic artist V.I. Smirnov with the memorial to K.L. Khetagurov
About museum
The museum-estate in the center of Stavropol, which belonged to the artist Vasily Ivanovich Smirnov, was opened in 1977 with an exhibition of his works. He settled here with his family in 1889 and taught drawing at educational institutions in Stavropol. The house frequently hosted teachers, musicians, writers, theater and public figures, as well as Kosta Levanovich Khetagurov, a pupil and friend of the owner. The museum displays Smirnov's works, as well as items and works by Khetagurov that reflect the cultural and everyday life of provincial Stavropol. In 2018 the museum was fully restored and opened to visitors. Here you can see more than 500 works by Smirnov, the restored Khetagurov memorial complex, and much more.
