The Tula Kremlin is an ancient citadel on the edge of the 'Wild Field' that defended the southern borders of the Grand Duchy of Moscow from the Crimean Horde. It was founded in 1507 by order of Grand Prince Vasily III and completed in 1520. The Kremlin has a regular rectangular shape with walls about 1 kilometer long. It includes nine towers, boyar courtyards, churches and monasteries. In 2020 the Tula Kremlin will turn 500 years old, and events will be held to mark this occasion.
