At the "Rodina (Homeland) of V. I. Lenin" museum-reserve, visitors can learn about the history of the printing industry in the Simbirsk Governorate from the late 18th century to the early 20th century, as well as about the history of the city's musical life in the second half of the 19th and the early 20th century. Here you can see unique publications, learn about the city's state and private printing houses, and about the activities and events in the lives of musicians and music lovers known in Simbirsk. You can also make an impression on a working proofing press and listen to works by P. V. Tolstoy, Prince I. P. Trubetskoy, K. K. Eizrih, V. V. Chernikov, A. I. Susokolova, R. N. Lutnovskaya, M. I. Wagner, P. I. Yazykova, E. P. Naumova, S. A. Kindyakova and others. The house that houses the museum belonged to titular counselor V. V. Chernikov, an official, musician, journalist and publisher, owner of the first private printing house in the Simbirsk Governorate.
