In 2021 a new museum and exhibition complex was built in the village of Urusovo, housing a workshop, an exhibition hall and a mini-hotel. The museum's activities help develop ethnotourism in Urusovo.

For many residents of Mordovia, the name Urusovo probably immediately brings to mind valenki. The inhabitants of this village have been making felt footwear for more than 300 years. Felting valenki is a traditional craft for the villagers, and all the exhibits in the museum are their donations. For visitors, local felters demonstrate the manufacturing technology right in the museum. Urusovo valenki are an ethno-brand of the Republic of Mordovia.
