Tula Maritime Museum
About museum
News that there is a 'maritime museum' in Tula invariably surprises people: where is Tula and where is the sea? It is precisely such a wonder of the Tula region that will be the subject of a presentation at the library for sixth-grade students. The children will be shown a presentation of O. A. Zolotaryov's book 'Tula Maritime Museum'. A short quiz about the region's museums will conclude the educational lesson. Behind an otherwise ordinary door in the building of a former kindergarten—distinguished from the others only by a plaque reading 'Tula Maritime Museum'—an astonishing world unexpectedly opens. In the mysterious lighting of the display cases, through the dimness of the hall, sailing ships and cruisers seem to glide across the waves, antique maps and paintings of naval battles draw the eye, the bronze of ship instruments glints faintly, and beside a reconstructed cabin of the submarine 'Tula' stands the figure of a 'submariner' in full diving gear.
