Museum of Entrepreneurs, Philanthropists and Benefactors
About museum
The Museum of Entrepreneurs, Philanthropists and Benefactors was founded in 1991 with the participation of descendants of pre-revolutionary Russian entrepreneurs: the Morozovs, the Ryabushinskys, the Alekseevs, the Gubonins, the Prokhorovs, the Guchkovs, the Rukavishnikovs, the Sytins and others. The custodian of the museum is Lev Nikolaevich Krasnopevts. It serves as a research, educational and outreach center where entrepreneurs, schoolchildren, students and the general public learn about the worldview, lifestyle, qualities and strategies of pre-revolutionary entrepreneurs and their contribution to Russia's development. The museum houses more than 2,500 authentic exhibits: photographs, portraits, documents and personal belongings. There is also a thematic library collection of more than 3,000 items. The museum is located in the old part of Moscow on Donskaya Street in a 19th-century building that belonged to Ivan Grigoryevich Prostyakov. Tours, lectures, seminars, walking tours, concerts and fairs are held here to raise funds for charitable purposes.
