Ust-Sos Open-Air Museum
About museum
The year 2010 was devoted to the creation of the Ust-Sos Open-Air Museum. It all began with the discovery and installation in 2002 of a stone statue from the Okunev era, which attracted the attention of public and religious organizations in Khakassia. A large amount of work was then carried out to develop the museum's concept and infrastructure: land allocation works were completed, several yurts were erected, and electricity and water supply were installed. The museum is a complex composed of archaeological, ethnographic, and natural monuments. It promotes patriotic education, enlightenment, and the preservation of cultural heritage, and also offers tourists the opportunity to stroll through a natural landscape entirely covered with historical monuments.
