The Panorama Museum 'Battle of Stalingrad' is part of the Museum-Reserve 'Battle of Stalingrad'. In 1982 the panorama 'The Rout of the Nazi-Fascist Troops at Stalingrad' was opened, and in May 1985 the museum was inaugurated in honor of the 40th anniversary of the Great Victory. The displays include photographs, documents, personal belongings and relics of participants in the Battle of Stalingrad, including the sniper rifle of V. G. Zaitsev, the general's greatcoat of V. A. Glazkov, Komsomol and party membership cards, battle banners, as well as an honorary sword from the King of Great Britain and many other gifts and messages from 60 countries worldwide. The museum is intended for the patriotic and moral education of the younger generation and for conducting scientific research. Over the past 37 years the museum has been visited by more than 14 million people.
