ITMO University Museum of Optics
About museum
The ITMO Optics Museum is the first interactive museum within a university setting. It opened in 2008 and has become a space for science communication and the popularization of scientific products, including holograms. Here you can learn about the history of optics and the modern technologies of the future, as well as personally experience optical phenomena. At the Optics Museum you can “freeze” your shadow, paint, control particles in space, and even experience a bit of flight. The museum also displays a unique collection of glass, optical replicas of Fabergé masterpieces, and holograms. Its interactive format allows visitors to experience optical effects firsthand and imagine themselves in the roles of characters from science fiction films. Here you can not only observe but also independently explore all the exhibits on display.
