Chekhovs' Shop Museum
About museum
The Chekhovs' Shop Museum is located in a two-storey brick house built in the 1850s, which the Chekhov family rented from merchant I. G. Moiseev from 1869 to 1874. This was the period of A. P. Chekhov's life that influenced his work. The father's shop was on the first floor, and the living rooms were on the second. On November 3, 1977, a museum was opened here to present the furnishings and environment in which the writer spent his childhood. It features the interiors of Chekhov's shop, documents with autographs, photographs, paintings by N. P. Chekhov, and household items from the family and their circle. The museum is part of the Taganrog State Literary and Historical-Architectural Museum-Reserve and offers a wonderful opportunity to feel the atmosphere of A. P. Chekhov's childhood.
