N. S. Golovanov Museum-Apartment
About museum
In Bryusov Lane, in the Artists' House of the Bolshoi Theatre, the museum-apartment of Nikolai Semenovich Golovanov has been located for over 50 years. It was opened in 1969, and on January 21, the birthday of the outstanding musician, it welcomed its first visitors. Nikolai Golovanov lived here for almost 20 years, from 1935 to 1953. This was his most productive period, during which he received the highest honors and gained wide recognition. Today the museum features four rooms: a study, a living room, a dining room and the conductor's former bedroom. Here you can see original paintings by great artists, and also hear unique audio recordings of Golovanov's works. He was deservedly called "a titan of conducting", "an artist of heroic stature", "the principal conductor of the Soviet Union" — and to this day he firmly occupies a place in the memory of posterity.
