M. M. Plisetskaya Museum-Apartment
About museum
On July 27, 2022, a museum-apartment dedicated to Maya Mikhailovna Plisetskaya was opened on Tverskaya Street. Plisetskaya was a ballerina, ballet master, choreographer, the prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theatre, and a People's Artist of the USSR. This building had been home to notable figures such as conductor Alexander Gauk, opera singers Sergey Lemeshev and Elizaveta Shumskaya, artist Alexander Deyneka, pianist Emil Gilels, and others. In Maya Plisetskaya's apartment everything remains as it was during the owner's life: furniture, books, costumes by Pierre Cardin and Yves Saint Laurent, perfumes, little children's shoes and a porcelain doll tea set that the young Maya received from the owner of a children's shop in Oslo. Particularly noteworthy is a collection of two original lithographs by Marc Chagall with a dedicatory inscription. All of this represents a unique historical monument and a treasure of Russian culture.
