Akushinsky Local History Museum
About museum
In 2010 the Akushinsky Local History Museum was opened as a branch of the National Museum of the Republic of Dagestan named after A. Taho-Godi. It houses more than 3,000 exhibits distributed across various departments. Particularly interesting is the paleontological collection, which includes fossil remains of an ancient marine reptile — an ichthyosaur. In addition, the museum presents a rich ethnographic collection containing household items of Akushinsky residents, as well as very rare examples of decorative and applied arts. The museum features unique samples of old Kaitag and Usishin embroidery, which are genuine sacred artifacts.
