Historical and Memorial Museum of the Demidovs
About museum
The Demidov Museum is located in the historic part of Tula, in Zarechye, on the former Kuznetskaya sloboda. Here you can learn the history of the famous Tula family of gunsmiths, industrialists and philanthropists, as well as discover the legends and secrets passed down through generations. The museum displays original examples of Tula arms production from the 16th–18th centuries, unique items from archaeological excavations of the Demidovs' family vault, a collection of miniature working secret locks, items of noble household life and copperware made by Ural craftsmen. The museum includes the Demidovs' vault in the Nikolo-Zaretskaya Church, which is the only intra-church family vault in Russia to have survived to the present day. The museum runs museum-pedagogical classes under the program "History and Traditions of the Tula Region." The museum has ramps and is also located near the Arms Museum and the river embankment.
