L. Laptsuy Apartment Museum

Leonid Vasilyevich Laptsuy (1932–1982) was a Nenets writer, Honored Worker of Culture of the RSFSR, and an active organizer and participant in many events for collecting and preserving Nenets national folklore. He took direct part in creating a primer for national schools and was also the author of a book for extracurricular reading in the Nenets language. In 1964 Laptsuy became a member of the Union of Soviet Writers. In 1994 his wife, Elena Grigoryevna Susoy, established the L. Laptsuy Apartment Museum. It is part of the Yamal-Nenets Regional Museum and Exhibition Complex named after I. S. Shemanovsky. The museum-apartment preserves the environment in which the writer lived and worked. The exhibition includes household items, furniture, applied art objects, paintings, graphics, archaeological and ethnographic items, manuscripts, newspaper sketches, family photographs, and portraits of Northern writers.
