Museum of Book Culture and Literature of the Upper Kama 'Alkonost'
About museum
The Museum of Book Culture and Literary Life of the Upper Kama 'Alkonost' was opened on November 10, 2005, and is a branch of the Berezniki Historical and Art Museum named after I. F. Konovalov. The museum's collection comprises more than 10,000 storage units, accumulated over 80 years. The exhibits present the book and literary life of the Upper Kama region from the 17th century to the early 20th century. The main contribution to the collection was made by the Stroganov family, who were not only salt industrialists but also statesmen, patrons, and collectors. The holdings include donated books of G. D. Stroganov, Cyrillic liturgical books, and commentaries on sacred texts by enlighteners and Christian thinkers. In addition, the exhibition features a lifetime edition of A. S. Pushkin's poem 'Eugene Onegin', the almanac 'Northern Flowers' by A. Delvig (a friend of the poet), works by Russian and foreign writers from the personal libraries of local residents, and literary journals of the 19th–early 20th centuries. The museum regularly hosts new exhibitions.
