About museum

In 1997, by order of the Governor of Saint Petersburg V. A. Yakovlev, the state budgetary cultural institution "Museum of the History of Russia's Submarine Forces named after A. I. Marinesko" was established with the aim of promoting the patriotic education of youth. The museum is located at 83 Kondratyevsky Prospekt, building 1, next to the Bogoslovskoye Cemetery, where Heroes of the Soviet Union A. I. Marinesko, N. A. Lunin and other celebrated submarine sailors are buried. The museum's collection is housed in three halls with a total area of 303 sq. m. and represents the staged development of the country's submarine force structures. It contains exhibits reflecting their combat use during wartime. The museum has become an integral part of the Kalininsky District of Saint Petersburg, a promoter of the State Program of patriotic education, and warmly welcomes everyone who wishes to learn about the history of the submarine forces of the Russian Navy.
