In 2010 a new department — the Museum of the History of the Town and District — was established within the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve. The house housing the museum's exhibition was built at the end of the 19th century and belonged to the descendants of the peasant Alexey Borisovich Kuznetsov. At the beginning of the 20th century the house was home to Dr. Ioakim Yakovlevich Nodelman, a physician at the town's zemstvo hospital. At different times the building was used for various purposes: the office of the lespromkhoz (forest industry enterprise), the children's ward of the hospital, a kindergarten and a school. The administration of Kirillovsky District transferred the building to the museum for use free of charge. After renovation, the museum department presenting the history of Kirillov and Kirillovsky District was installed there. A collection of household items from different eras allows visitors to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the late 19th–early 20th centuries. The house's original layout was restored, openings were closed and partially removed walls were reconstructed. Restored wallpapers, the character of the window draperies and stylized chandeliers let you feel the atmosphere of the past.
