In 1996, the Museum of the History of the City and Fleet was opened in Severomorsk to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the Russian Navy. The main exhibition is housed in two halls. The Hall of Military Glory features exhibits that introduce visitors to the history of the Northern Fleet. The City Hall presents materials on the history of the city's construction, its cultural development, healthcare, public services, a section on friendly/twinning relations and on sporting achievements and the city's Honorary Citizens. The complex's collections contain approximately 7,000 museum items: documents, photographs, awards, and personal belongings of Severomorsk residents. The temporary exhibition hall hosts a variety of exhibitions and other events. The Severomorsk Museum and Exhibition Complex is a showcase for the city, attracting residents and visitors of the naval capital.
