Museum of the Admiral S. O. Makarov State University of Maritime and River Fleet
About museum
The museum's exhibition is dedicated to the history of transport education in Russia, including the founding of the Admiral S. O. Makarov State University of Maritime and River Fleet. The display features portraits of the institute's first pupils, as well as the first issue of the journal 'Putey Soobshcheniya' (Journal of Transport Communications) (original) from 1826. The museum also preserves the uniform of an official of the Department of Communications from the era of Nicholas I, the student record book of a 1911 graduate, monographs and textbooks from that time, and the title page of the first Russian book on hydraulic engineering, 'Kniga slyuznaya', published in 1708. All of this helps to understand how important the development of transport education in Russia was and to reconstruct the history of this process.
