Museum of Urban Electric Transport
About museum
The museum is not only historical exhibits and displays but also storage facilities where tram cars, trolleybuses and buses are kept to be restored to working condition. In 2010 the museum was opened to the public to trace the history of Saint Petersburg's public transport from the beginning of the 20th century. Visitors can view and go inside authentic examples of vehicles from different eras, and can also ride them. The museum staff's mission is to preserve and maintain historical artifacts and to promote a culture of using urban public transport. In recent years the museum has attracted an increasing number of visitors, participates in international events and festivals, and takes an active role in the life of the city. Volunteers assist in locating and delivering historical vehicles, and restoration work is carried out on the museum grounds.
