Memorial Complex for the Victims of Repression
About museum
On February 23, 1997, the Memorial Complex for the Victims of Repression was opened; it was created to commemorate them and to promote the history of the causes and consequences of the repressions. The author of the design of the tower, where the museum exhibitions are located, is People's Artist of the Russian Federation Murad Polonkoev. The museum building is registered in the Russian Academy of Arts' registry as an architectural monument. In 2012, a Memorial of Memory and Glory was opened on the territory of the Memorial Complex in honor of the 20th anniversary of the Republic of Ingushetia. It consists of arcades, monuments, compositions, sculptures, parks, flowerbeds, and fountains. The aims of the Memorial Complex are to form civic and historical consciousness among youth, to preserve historical memory, and to bring generations closer through cultural and educational activities.
