Pavinsky District Local History Museum
About museum
On July 15, 1996, N. A. Bobrov, head of the administration of Pavinsky District, signed a decree establishing the municipal local history museum and appointing its director. The official opening took place on November 5, 1997. Local residents of Pavinsky and local history enthusiasts had long dreamed of a museum; at opening it held 773 items in the main collection and 14 items in the auxiliary collection. The first staff members were E. P. Semikolennykh (director) and L. I. Ogarkov (tour guide). The museum features exhibitions: "Technology of Flax Processing and Traditional Peasant Costume", "Peasant Life", "Furniture by Local Craftsmen from the Pre‑Revolutionary and Post‑Revolutionary Periods", and others. The museum hosts themed guided-lecture tours and lesson-tours, as well as permanent exhibitions: "Where the Pavinsky Land Came From", "The Forest World of the Pavinsky Region", "Master Craftsmen", "The Peasant House", "Combat Past" and others. Visitors learn about the region's history, the formation of the district, folk traditions, crafts and trades, and about the people of the Pavinsky region.
