About museum
Ishim Museum is the successor to the first museum that existed from 1923 to 1952 and was opened in 1986 in the Epiphany Cathedral. In 1990 it was moved to the building of a former primary school, and in 1996 to the building of the former City Administration. In 2006 the museum's collection was supplemented by 168 works of fine art from the collection of the Russian Federation. Today the museum has more than 38,000 museum objects, including an archaeological collection from the Bronze Age and the Middle Ages, an ethnographic textile collection of settlers from the late 19th century, as well as an 1891 notebook that belonged to a member of the Romanov imperial family. The museum hosts various city and regional events, including guided tours, lectures for kindergartens and schools, quest games and other museum educational formats.
