P.T. Vasilenko Museum of Military and Labor Glory of the Vasyurinskaya Stanitsa
About museum
In 1980 the CPSU Central Committee called for attention to the creation of museums of the people's military and labor glory in honor of the 40th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Already in 1982, by the opening day, two halls were ready: the Great Patriotic War hall and the stanitsa history hall. In the same year the museum was registered as a people's museum. In 1997 Nikolai Nikolaevich Filippov proposed that Alexander Ivanovich Popov head the museum, and in February 1999 the collective farm members decided to name it after Pavel Trifonovich Vasilenko. Today the museum owns more than a thousand exhibits, and its main treasure is the collection of items related to the Great Patriotic War. The museum has six permanent exhibitions, and events are also held for the patriotic education of young people and themed tours for residents and visitors of the settlement.
