On January 15, 1976, the local history museum of the town of Abinsk was founded. Today it is a municipal budgetary institution with branches in the Mingrelskaya and Erivanskaya stanitsas. The museum's collection consists of more than 30,000 items: documents, books, photographs, coins, orders and medals, weapons, works of painting and graphic art, archaeological and ethnographic items, and materials and relics of military history. Over many years the museum has carried out search and recovery work, which has allowed it to assemble a rich collection of military history. It is especially notable for works by Kuban artists of the second half of the 20th century, donated to the museum following plein-air workshops held since 1996. Today the Abinsky District Museum is not only a museum but also a cultural, scientific and educational center that helps foster patriotism.
