Moscow Museum of Animation
About museum
On October 17, 2015, the Moscow Museum of Animation was opened at the Center of Russian Culture. It was established in 2006 by employees of the Soyuzmultfilm studio. At first the museum was filled with personal sketches by the studio's artists and directors. Today the museum is a true archive, containing more than 9,000 various exhibits from Russia and abroad. The exhibition presents the history and development of the art of animation and includes a praxinoscope, zoetrope, stereoscopes, magic lanterns, film and photographic equipment, projectors, cameras, puppets, models, set decorations and documents. The museum features exhibits from studios such as Soyuzmultfilm, The Walt Disney Company, Lucasfilm, Warner Brothers Production, Nickelodeon, Pilot, Animaccord, Studio Ghibli, Toei Animation, Mushi Production, Apple Films and others. Here you can see original sketches and exhibits of famous characters such as Cheburashka, the Wolf, the Hare and Cinderella, as well as Mickey Mouse, Naruto and Sailor Moon.
