Memorial Museum of S. Stalsky
About museum
Visitors to the museum can see a reconstruction of the house in which the founder of Lezgian, Dagestani and pre-Soviet poetry, the well-known Dagestani poet of the 20th century and People's Poet of the DASSR Suleiman Stalsky, lived. The exhibition includes a model of the old house, the poet's clothing, household utensils, tools and other artifacts, as well as excerpts from “Suleiman's Story About Himself”, recorded by Efendi Kapiev in 1936. The museum displays the poet's personal documents, including the membership card of the Union of Soviet Writers, the delegate's mandate to the 1st All-Union Congress of Writers and the certificate of a member of the Dagestan CEC. The canvas by Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR and DASSR Muetdin Dzemal, "M. Gorky and S. Stalsky", depicts the poet's meeting with Maxim Gorky. The Memorial Museum of S. Stalsky is a branch of the National Museum of Dagestan named after A. Taho-Godi and was opened in 1978.
