Memorial Complex of Pioneer Geologists 'F.K. Salmanov House'
About museum
The Memorial Complex of Pioneer Geologists 'F. K. Salmanov House' is a unique place for the modern city of Surgut, as it allows visitors to recall the atmosphere and color of the 'sixties' era. The complex was opened in September 2007 in honor of the 50th anniversary of the first landing of geological prospectors on the territory of Surgut. The center of the complex is the house of Farman Kurbanovich Salmanov, where he lived from 1957 to 1961. Here one can feel the atmosphere of Surgut in the late 1950s - early 1960s. The house displays a collection of drill bits, samples of rocks and oil, as well as examples of equipment and a geological prospectors' field trailer. Visitors can learn about the history of oil development in the North and take part in historical tours.
