Chapaevs' Memorial House
About museum
In the center of the capital of the Chuvash Republic is the Memorial House, which is part of a museum complex that includes Chapaev Square, the building of the V. I. Chapaev Museum, the Chapaevs' Memorial House, a monument to V. I. Chapaev created by sculptor P. Bryndin and architect V. Morozov, as well as a memorial wall with bas-reliefs of D. A. Furmanov, M. V. Frunze, M. N. Tukhachevsky, V. V. Kuybyshev and I. S. Kutyakov, created by sculptor E. Agoyan. Here in 1887 the hero of the Civil War V. I. Chapaev was born. Until 1909 the house stood in the village of Budayka, after which it was sold and moved to the village of Knutikha. In 1933 it was transferred to the family of E. Nikandrova and moved to the village of Samukovo. In 1967 the house was purchased by G. Petrov from the village of Tokhmeevo. After repeated dismantlings, reassemblies and relocations, the house's original appearance became distorted. In 1985, with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture of Chuvashia and the V. I. Chapaev Production Association, the house was moved and restored. From that moment it has been part of the V. I. Chapaev museum complex.
