Literary and Local History Center, Tyumen
About museum
On March 3, 2011, the Literary and Local History Center in Tyumen was opened at the initiative of the city administration and with the support of writers, local historians, journalists, philologists, and library professionals. It is located in a late 19th-century stone building that was once part of the estate of merchant V. V. Kolmakov, where the office and library of the Prikazchiy Club were housed. The center's interiors were designed by artist-designer Dmitry Parfenov, and the furniture was manufactured at the Krasny Oktyabr woodworking plant. The center is part of a structural subdivision of the Centralized City Library System and cooperates with local government and public organizations as well as private individuals. The center promotes and preserves the region's literary heritage: it has a library of works by local authors and hosts evenings, contests, festivals, meetings with writers, book presentations, classes at the children's poetry studio "Vereshok," and other events.
