Lgov Local History Museum
About museum
On August 29, 1990, at the initiative of S. V. Lagutich, the Lgov Local History Museum was established; it opened its doors to visitors in 1994. Since 2014 the museum has been a branch of the Kursk Regional Local History Museum. At the time of its founding, S. V. Lagutich's personal collection comprised over 3,500 items of history and material culture; today the museum holds more than 20,000. The archaeological and ethnographic collections display farmers' tools, craftsmen's implements, festive and everyday clothing, household utensils and much more. The museum is located on Krasnaya Square in a house built in 1890 that belonged to the merchant Ivan Antonovich Zakharov. Each year the museum welcomes over 5,000 visitors, offering them the chance to touch history, discover something new and interesting, and see the past in a different light. Visitors are always welcome!
